Young Indian team demonstrated how to silence hosts

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra said the Indian team took Arjuna Ranatunga’s “second channel” comment too seriously as visitors hit Sri Lanka in Colombo through 7 wickets in the first ODI.

The former Sri Lankan captain who won the 1996 World Cup, before the series, had expressed his displeasure with BCCI for sending a “second channel” and that it was an insult to the SLC.

However, he now faces the heat as India’s ‘second chain’ team blew up Sri Lanka on Sunday to chase 263 with 13 overs to lose.

Prithvi Shaw (43 of 24), Ishan Kishan (59 of 42) and Suryakumar Yadav (31 * of 20) fought around skipper Shikhar Dhawan (86 of 95) to complete a dominant pursuit. Aakash Chopra remains in awe of how white ball cricket has progressed and how young Indians have adjusted so well to the new normal.

“Did you take it to heart?” Arjuna Ranatunga had said that a second team had been sent and that it was an insult to them. 262 runs are not that rare that you win a match like this by seven wickets and there are 15 overs left, ”Aakash Chopra said in his YouTube video.

“The young Indian team showed how to silence the hosts. The mood has changed a bit. The whole way of demolishing, of absolutely annihilating the opposition, of destroying.

“The opposing team won the toss and midway through the set we thought 262 points was no less. But such an explosive and incredible stick. Also because it was not my hitting style at all. The way I played, I would wake up if I hit like that, even in my dreams, ”added Aakash Chopra.

We don’t need to respond to anyone, who says what their thoughts are: Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav, who made a good outing in Colombo picking up a few crucial wickets, in response to Ranatunga, said the team doesn’t focus a bit on anyone’s comments; instead, they only think about their job: playing cricket and winning matches.

“We don’t need to respond to anyone, we just need to focus on our work. We came here to play cricket. We are really lucky to be able to play cricket in this situation. We are focusing on our squad and how we can perform well in six games, because we have a lot of youngsters.

“Certainly we will see every game the same, how can we win it for the team. That’s our motto. Other than that, who says what their thoughts are. We should focus on ourselves and enjoy of our cricket, ”said Kuldeep.
