Watch: Shakib Al Hasan uproots stumps by arguing with Dhaka T20 League referee

The all-round star from Bangladesh expressed his frustration on the pitch after the referee signaled he had not come out of his fiery call. The incident took place during the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Abahani Limited. Shakib appealed for a leg before the wicket against Mushfiqur Rahim and when denied he kicked the stumps followed by a heated exchange with the referee.

It was not a one-off incident as Shakib argued again with the referee on the power play. This time he snatched all three stumps from the non-attacking side, threw them to the ground and continued chatting with the referee.

The Abahani Limited skipper scored 37 points from 27 in the opening innings. The 34-year-old’s innings included two sixes and one fours, helping his team to post a 145/6 total.

It remains to be seen what disciplinary action the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will take against Shakib following the incidents in the T20 national league.

Shakib recently returned from an ICC ban after failing to report the corrupt approaches of a suspected Indian bookmaker in the Indian Premier League and in a tri-series involving Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

Shakib also played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2021 IPL before his suspension. After the announcement of the takeover of the IPL in September, the former skipper of Bangladesh did not receive an NOC by the board to play in the UAE.
