The Indian team in England received another injury on Thursday when all-round spin bowling player Washington Sundar was excluded from the series of five tests starting on August 4.
Washington is the third player after Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan to be banned from the tour.
Washington has been reported to have broken a finger after being hit by a delivery from Mohammed Siraj on day two of the first-class warm-up match between India and County XI.
“Yes Washy has a broken finger just like Avesh who had a dislocated thumb. Both are out of the Test series and will return home, ”a senior BCCI official told PTI on condition of anonymity.

“It will also take him at least five weeks to start bowling and therefore no need to keep them here,” said the source.
It is understood that Siraj’s short ball which represented Washington hit his fingers harder than expected and he was in excruciating pain after returning to the lodge.
While Washington or Avesh weren’t regulars on the first team, but integral as net bowlers and the versatile Tamil Nadu with his superior batting abilities would have been in the mix at some point in the series .
“It’s pure and simple irony that Avesh and Washington played for the opposition and got injured. But it’s sport and injuries are a big part of life,” the source added.
The replacements will be named soon and it will be interesting that a Navdeep Saini or a Bhuneshwar Kumar replaces Avesh and joins after the end of the Sri Lanka series.
In the case of Washington, the equivalent replacement is Krishnappa Gowtham.
