Vivo IPL 2021 DC vs MI: Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma charged 12 INR Lakhs for maintaining a slow over-rate.
Vivo IPL 2021: Rohit Sharma, defending Mumbai Indians (MI) champion, was fined INR 12 Lakhs after the Delhi-Mumbai game for maintaining a slow over-rate.
Tuesday’s game was won by Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals (DC) as they chased the given total of 19.1 overs with six wickets in hand.
“Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was fined after his team maintained a slow pass in their 2021 IPL match against the Delhi Capitals at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 20,” said the IPL in a press release.
“As this was the first offense of the season for his team under the IPL Code of Conduct for Minimum Overestimation Violations, Mr. Sharma was fined Rs 12 lakh,” the statement added.
The Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) ahead of the start of IPL 2021 made some changes to the IPL Code of Conduct (CoC). The rule of minimum overcost has been changed. According to the new rules, each IPL round must be completed before or before the 90th minute.
Previously, the 20th over the innings was not included in the 90 minute period. The rule was that the 20th pass should start before or before the 90th minute.
According to the BCCI, multiple infringements of this type could even lead to the suspension of the skipper for one or more matches depending on the type of infringement.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni was also fined INR 12 Lakhs for maintaining a slow over rate in the second IPL game against the Delhi Capitals (DC).
