Offie Moeen Ali played a superb performance that shook the strains of Virat Kohli (0) in the first session of the first day of the second test underway between India and England here at the MA Chidambaram stadium.
This is the 11th time Kohli has been fired for a duck in testing. James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Pat Cummins, Ben Hilfenhaus, Mitchell Starc, Suranga Lakmal, Abu Jayed, Liam Plunkett, Ravi Rampaul and Kemar Roach are the other ten bowlers to send Kohli back for a zero in testing.

Rohit Sharma scored half a century of rapid fire, but India lost crucial wickets to Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara and Kohli as England gained the upper hand in the opening session on day one.
At the lunch break, India’s score was 106/3 with Rohit and Ajinkya Rahane unbeaten on 80 and 5 respectively. The first session saw 106 points scored from 26 overs.
Kohli had won the toss and he chose to beat first. The hosts made three changes to their roster by bringing in Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj in place of Shahbaz Nadeem, Washington Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested.

On the other hand, England made four changes as the team brought in Moeen Ali, Stuart Broad, Olly Stone and Ben Foakes in place of Dominic Bess, Jofra Archer, James Anderson and Jos Buttler.
England are 1-0 in the four-game series. India must win the series by at least a 2-1 margin to qualify for the World Test Championship final.
