While many children enjoy following their parents in their professional lives, the children of cricketers are not much different. During the long history of cricket we have seen many cricket families where many generations including father and son have followed the sport to a serious level.
T20 cricket is brand new, which was officially born in 2003. Even though T20 cricket is over 17 years old, we have already experienced the involvement of a few fathers and sons in this shorter format.
Here we are talking about the 5 best father and son duos who have played T20 cricket.
Sachin Tendulkar and Arjun Tendulkar
Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar made his T20 debut in India’s very first T20I match (against South Africa in Johannesburg on December 1, 2006) and it was his only T20I match where he scored 10 points and picked up only ‘a counter. However, until 2013, Sachin played 96 T20s, mainly for his team IPL Mumbai Indians (91 T20), where he scored 2797 points (32.90 avg; 121.08 hit rate), including a century and 16 half centuries.
Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar is a left arm stimulator and a left handed drummer. After making his T20 debut in the 2020/21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the 21-year-old only played two T20Is, where he scored 3 points and took 2 wickets. More recently, Mumbai Indians bought Arjun Tendulkar for its base price (INR 20 lakh) in the IPL 2021 auction.
