Mega auction IPL 2022: With the sudden suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, all the attention of IPL fans has been shifted to next year’s IPL. As previously reported, BCCI will add two new IPL franchises to the existing pool of eight to make the Indian T20 tournament a 10-team affair.
The mega auction will take place in order to shuffle and redistribute players. Each franchise will have the right to retain a maximum of two Indian players and one foreign player. Also, they can use two RTM cards, on an Indian player and another for a foreign player.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have made a fresh start for season fourteen. The MS Dhoni-led team managed to outdo almost every team and were once considered the top contender in the playoffs.
Although it is a headache for support staff and owners to choose players for retention as they have multiple match winners. Here are three players CSK could pick in the 2022 IPL mega auction.
3 Chennai Super Kings (CSK) players could keep ahead of the 2022 IPL mega auction:
The versatile young Englishman was acquired by CSK in the IPL 2020 auction for the massive INR 5.5 Crores after being left behind by the Punjab Kings. After landing at CSK, Curran was magical.
In IPL 2020, Curran was the only CSK player to perform well in all games. He was moved to various positions and he managed to pull off whatever came his way.
CSK retained him during IPL 2021 because he was a promising sign for the future of CSK. With his bowling and finishing abilities, he’s destructive and took Dwayne Bravo’s place at CSK.
Ravindra Jadeja will be the first name in front of the CSK leadership for retention. Over the past two years he has been sensational for CSK and Team India. CSK selected him in the 2018 mega auction and since then he has reversed roles on several occasions.
Most cricket experts consider him to be the future captain of CSK after the retirement of MS Dhoni. Sir Jadeja can be deadly with the ball in hand both in the bowling alley and in the field. He was also phenomenal with the bat.
The 24-year-old cricketer came into the limelight in the latter part of IPL 2020. Gaikwad has hit three straight half centuries for CSK and has proven to be a promising sign for CSK going forward. .
In the suspended 2021 IPL, Gaikwad played sensational shots in partnership with Faf du Plessis. He starts off slow but when he goes he is unstoppable. Even though he doesn’t score many limits in the first overs, he keeps the strike rate on the rise by turning the strike.
It will be an interesting call for the leadership of CSK if they retain the youngster.
