Thrilled to join the finalists at the last edition of the Delhi Capitals, star Australian drummer Steve Smith hopes to guide the team to their first title triumph of the upcoming Indian Premier League season.
The 31-year-old, who was released by Rajasthan Royals, was acquired by Delhi Capitals for Rs 2.2 crore at IPL auctions last week.
“I am really happy to join the team this year. I think the team has a good group of players and a great coach and I can’t wait to get there and create some amazing memories, and I hope to help the team do better than last year. . I can’t wait guys, ”Smith said.

The prolific right-wing drummer, who joined the Rajasthan Royals franchise in 2019, was the team’s captain in the 2020 edition in the UAE, where they finished last.
Smith scored 2,333 points in 95 games with a 35.34 GPA in the IPL.
The drummer had a fantastic season for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant in the IPL 2017 when he collected 472 points in 15 games.
At the Delhi Capitals, Smith will reunite with 2011 World Cup captain Ricky Ponting, who is the team’s head coach.
The Capitals boast a strong batting lineup with players like Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan, Marnus Stoinis and Shimron Hetmyer in the side, and the former Aussie skipper may not be a sure starter in all 14 matches .
