Vivo IPL 2021: SRH appoints Kane Williamson as skipper for the remainder of Vivo IPL 2021.
Vivo IPL 2021: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) announced on Saturday that Australian cricketer David Warner will step down as franchise captain while Kane Williamson will succeed him for the remainder of the fourteenth edition of the IPL.
Desperate to win matches in IPL 2021, SRH also announced that the franchise will field a different mix of foreign players in the game11 as they take on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 2.
“The team’s management have also decided to change their combination away from home for tomorrow’s game against the Rajasthan Royals,” SRH said in a statement.
“This decision was not taken lightly as management respects the enormous impact David Warner has had on the franchise over the years. As we face the remainder of the season, we are sure David will continue to help us strive for success on and off the field, ”added SRH.
Hyderabad has only one win out of the six games it has played so far and is placed at the bottom of the points table with two points.
Kiwi Cricketer Kane Williamson was unavailable to play the first two games early, but he made his comeback with winning shots. In the three games, Williamson scored 108 points, including an unbeaten 66 that led SRH to the super-over.
Australian hitter David Warner, meanwhile, is going through a pale season. He struggled to pace his sleeves well and struggled to keep up with the punching rhythm. In all 6 games, Warner scored 193 points including two half centuries with a strike rate of just 110.29.
