IPL 2021: Ravi Shastri believes that Indian players should take a break after the end of IPL 2021.

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021: Team India head coach Ravi Shastri is asking BCCI to give Indian players a break after IPL 2021. The Indian head coach has unofficially said it gets hectic at times to be at inside the bio-bubble and players need free time.

India has resumed cricket operations with the 2020 Indian Premier League. Although the tournament has moved to the United Arab Emirates, players have been in constant cricket since then.

Right after the end of the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League, the Indian contingent flew to Australia for a long and tiresome streak in three formats. A few days after the Australian series, players had to enter the bubble for the English series which will also be three formats. Even after the English series, the Indian players after a few days of rest will be heading towards the preparation of the IPL 2021.

While there is ample time for two weeks to relax, however, the time spent inside the quarantine period becomes hectic for players.

Players need a break at some point: Ravi Shastri

The head coach, while speaking to Star Sports, believes that the day-to-day process is becoming painful for cricketers and they will definitely need days off after three months of IPL.

“I believe you need a break from international cricket at some point. After the England series, yes, they enter the IPL. Again after the IPL, a few weeks off is a must. Because in these quarantines, in these bubbles, it is mentally exhausting. You are human, at the end of it all, ” Shastri told Star Sports, the broadcaster of the India vs. England series.

According to the schedule, the last match between India and England will be on March 28 and the players will have around two weeks off. The fourteenth edition of the IPL is scheduled to begin on April 11.

The three month long tournament will also quarantine the rules and therefore a few days will be cut off there. In addition, players will not have time until after the IPL final which will take place in the first week of June. The program for India will therefore be tiring.

The series to come after the IPL is important because it will be the Test World Championship and the ICC T20 World Cup. According to reports, India may withdraw from the Asian Cup due to a busy schedule.
