Ravichandran Ashwin is set to play his first class first match for Surrey against Somerset in their County Championship match at the Oval on Sunday.
Ashwin, who is on hiatus in the UK like the rest of his Indian teammates after the World Test Championship final, has previously played for Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire.
He will join Hashim Amla as Surrey’s second foreign player in his final Group 2 game after being included in the 13-man squad for the game.
Ahead of the highly anticipated five-game test run against England, this game will serve as valuable match training for the wireless player. The Oval will host the fourth match of the India-England series.
“I am so privileged to have the badge. I heard and wondered what the counties of London are. Even if it’s only for one game, I’m happy to share this dressing room, ”said Ashwin in a video shared by Surrey.
