Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since the inception of IPL. He has been the team leader since day one of the IPL and even continues to do so today. His respect and his say in the yellow brigade are on another level. However, with age not on his side, it remains to be seen how he can continue.

It should be noted that when Dhoni was seen in IPL 2020 he was asked if this was his last season with CSK. His “certainly not” ended all of his CSK retirement plans. In the latest turn of events, the same was reiterated by CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, who said MSD can continue with CSK for 1-2 more years.

He added that the 40-year-old had no reason to retire and was only adding value to the team. It should be noted that under MSD leadership, CSK won three IPL trophies and reached the entire season playoffs before the 2020 season broke its streak. 2020 initial loading was the first edition where CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs and even the skipper’s batting form was the subject of many questions.

MS Dhoni is in great shape and training a lot, says CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan

“He can continue for another one or two years with the CSK. He is in great shape, trains a lot. I don’t see any reason why he should stop. As far as we are concerned, we are satisfied with what he is doing for CSK. It’s not just about his position as captain or whether he’s the guide or a leader as the most experienced player. We think he’s still good and that he brings value as a side player. He’s been a finisher and does it for us, ”said Viswanathan, as quoted by Sportskeeda.

MS will then be seen at the head of the yellow army during the UAE stage of the IPL 2021 which will start in September.
