Manoj Tiwary injured to miss Bengal camp | Cricket News

KOLKATA: Seasoned Bengal batsman Manoj Tiwary will miss the team’s pre-season camp from Friday in Kolkata due to injury. The former skipper of Bengal is treating a knee injury which has forced him to be absent for the time being.
“I have a cartilage injury in my left knee since the start of the season which has worsened. I was advised to rest and will be back as soon as my rehabilitation is complete, ”Tiwary said.
The middle-ranked batsman failed to find any points in Syed Mushtaq Ali T20’s recent meeting which saw Bengal eliminated in the group stage. However, Bengal is hoping for a speedy recovery as he remains the mainstay of the squad in upcoming domestic games.
The Bengal Cricket Association (CAB) has meanwhile named a list of likely players who will take part in a camp led by batting consultant VVS Laxman, starting on Friday. The former Indian batsman had previously organized a camp for the players before Mushtaq Ali’s meeting. Although the roster includes Abhimanyu Easwaran’s name, the opener will miss the action as he will be in Chennai with the Indian squad for the first two tests against England as a reserve.
The CAB will also be hosting a blood donation camp on February 3 at Eden Gardens and in the districts to mark its founding day. Donors will receive certificates from Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami.
“The blood donation camps will be organized while maintaining all applicable protocols in this Covid-19 situation,” said CAB president Avishek Dalmiya.
