IPL 2021: Lasith Malinga retires from cricket franchise, leaves message.
Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021: Mumbai Indian player Lasith Malinga is retiring from the cricket franchise. The Sri Lankan cricketer informed the management of his franchise, Mumbai Indians, of his decision a month ago and made himself unavailable for the tournament. Lasith Malinga was not included in the Mumbai Indians squad in the recently retained IPL 2021 roster.
The cricketer expressed his thoughts and said: “After taking the suggestions from the family, I think it’s a good time to say goodbye to all cricketer in the franchise. The situation in the recent past has not been good for anyone given the pandemic. For me traveling with all travel restrictions and participating in cricket full duty will not be possible next year and so it is best to make that decision now.
“I also briefed the Mumbai Indians management recently as they prepared for the IPL 2021 auction. All I would like to say is that they have always been very supportive and understanding,” Lasith said. Malinga, who had been part of MI since 2009 IPL.
“I would like to thank the Ambani family and all the leadership of the Indians of Mumbai for their love. Most importantly, the fans and supporters are a constant for me, ”added Malinga.
Lasith Malinga has been an integral part of the Mumbai family and has won them many matches. Earlier in the 2020 IPL season, Lasith Malinga made himself unavailable due to his family issues and travel restrictions in the pandemic.
“The Mumbai Indians treated me like family, supporting me in all situations on and off the court, and always giving me the confidence and freedom to express my natural game whenever I walked on the court,” added Malinga. .
