Vivo IPL 2021: L Balaji and Michael Hussey of CSK flown to Chennai in an air ambulance for quarantine.
Vivo IPL 2021: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowling and batting coach L Balaji and Michael Hussey, who had tested covid-positive, were flown to Chennai from Delhi in an air ambulance to complete their mandatory quarantine period , said the senior franchise official.
Hussey and Balaji tested positive for covid on Tuesday following indefinite suspension of the fourteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
“We decided to bring Hussey and Balaji to Chennai by air ambulance because we have better contacts here and we wanted to ensure better medical facilities when needed,” the CSK official told PTI.
KSB officials further said both members are “asymptomatic and doing well.”
Michael Hussey, who comes from Australia, will have to complete his quarantine and test negative covid several times in order to leave India and return to his country.
“Hussey has to wait and get a negative COVID report before he can leave India. We will arrange for a charter when it can fly safely, ”added the official.
However, the other Australian IPL recruits were taken to the Maldives. All players will spend the waiting period there before becoming eligible to board flights to Australia.
The franchise has organized charter flights for all players to reach their destinations safely.
A member of the CSK confirmed that the foreign recruits of the team will return initially followed by the Indian contingent while the skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be the last to say goodbye to the hotel of the team in Delhi.
