Former captain and mainstay of Sri Lankan hitter Kusal Perera is expected to miss the six-game streak against India from July 18 with an unspecified injury.
Perera was the captain of the Sri Lankan team in England but since the central contractual dispute between the players and cricket, Dasun Shanaka has been appointed captain at his own expense.
“Kusal Perera is almost certain to be absent from Sri Lanka’s series against India, having suffered a shoulder injury. The team have not disclosed the exact nature of the injury, nor have they. has officially withdrawn, but a team doctor says he’s likely to be out for six weeks, ” ESPN Cricinfo reported.

Perera was one of Sri Lanka’s three half-centurions in the ODI series against England. The 30-year-old scored 3,071 points in 107 ODIs as well as 1,347 points in 50 T20 internationals.
