COLOMBO: Former captain and mainstay of Sri Lankan batter Kusal Perera will miss the six-game streak against India from July 18 with an unspecified injury.
Perera was the captain of the Sri Lankan team in England but since the central contractual dispute between the players and cricket, Dasun Shanaka has been appointed captain at his own expense.
“Kusal Perera is almost certain to be out of Sri Lanka’s series against India, after sustaining a shoulder injury. The team have not disclosed the exact nature of the injury, nor have they. officially withdrew, but a team doctor said he would likely be out for six weeks, “ESPN Cricinfo reported.
Perera was one of Sri Lanka’s three half-centurions in the ODI series against England.
Perera, 30, scored 3,071 points in 107 ODIs as well as 1,347 points in 50 T20 internationals.
