Indian allrounders Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya suffered a huge personal tragedy with the death of their father Himanshu Pandya on Saturday morning. Himanshu Pandya suffered cardiac arrest and could not be revived.
Following the tragic incident, Krunal Pandya, who led Baroda in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, left the bio-bubble created for the Vadodara tournament. Krunal left the bubble to be with his bereaved family and as a result he would not play for Baroda in the ongoing Indian T20 tournament.
“Yes, Krunal Pandya left the bubble. It’s a personal tragedy, the Baroda Cricket Association mourns the loss of Hardik and Krunal ”. The CEO of the Baroda Cricket Association, Shishir Hattangadi, was cited by the ANI.
Krunal Pandya has played three games so far in the current Syed Mushtaq tournament, managing to take four wickets with his left arm rotation. In the first game against Uttarakhand he played with the bat, scoring 76. So far, Baroda has won all three games and is currently at the top of the elite group C. Hardik Pandya, on the other hand is training currently for the next series at home against England.
Hardik recently returned from Australia where he batted for the Men in Blue. He was named Man of the Series after batting in the T20I three-game series against Australia. His performance helped India win the Series 2-1 after losing the ODI Series. Hardik Pandya had also impressed in the ODI series by playing hits of 90 and 92. Before leaving for Australia, he and his brother had helped the Mumbai Indians to win the IPL 2020 in the UAE.
