Playmaker T Natarajan’s international started off on a memorable note. The first being chosen only as the net launcher for the Australia touring, he replaced Varun Chakravarthy in the T20I squad, and then several injuries led him to make his debut in all three formats. However, since then he has been on and off the pitch due to a knee injury he allegedly picked up in Australia itself.

Despite being deemed fit, Natarajan had withdrawn from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after playing just two matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He also underwent surgery and is currently in rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Meanwhile, a disaster hit IPL and it had to be suspended due to COVID cases inside the bubble.

The second leg of the tournament is scheduled to start in September, just before the T20 World Cup. And T Natarajan is once again aiming for a return to the field in the IPL. While speaking to the New Indian Express, he provided an update on his recovery and informed that he would return to bowling in great shape soon.

“I am progressing well after the surgery. I started to train slowly. I’m going to start bowling all the way through the nets by the end of this month. My goal right now is to fully recover and get back to when the IPL restarts, ”Natarajan said. “The fact that the IPL was suspended when he did it turned out to be a good thing in the end. None of this was in my hands of course, ”he added.

Natarajan doesn’t think about the T20 World Cup

With his ability to beat Yorkers, T Natarajan is one of the brightest prospects to qualify for the T20 World Cup squad later this year. However, he doesn’t think much about it and wants to make a comeback first in IPL first to prove his suitability.

““ I’m not thinking about the T20 World Cup right now, “said Natarajan.” I think more about my recovery. If I do well in IPL, the chance to be selected for the T20 World Cup will come by itself. It is my conviction. But for that, my recovery must be perfect, “added the 30-year-old.
