New Zealand point guard Scott Kuggeleijn was announced on Tuesday as Kane Richardson’s replacement for the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad for the rest of the IPL-14.
Along with compatriot Adam Zampa, Australian Richardson toured the tournament midway on Monday citing personal reasons following a second wave of COVID-19 in the country.
The Australian cricketer returned to his country as Covid-19 cases continued to mount in India.
Kuggeleijn, who was part of the IPL bubble as a reserve for Indians from Mumbai, has joined RCB as Richardson’s replacement, ESPNcricinfo reported.
No replacement has yet been named for leg spinner Zampa.
Kuggeleijn, 29, has so far played 2 ODI, 16 T20I for New Zealand in addition to appearing in 2 IPL matches in the past.
Zampa and Richardson will return to their country on Tuesday evening via Doha.
The two are currently in Mumbai while their Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise has moved to Ahmedabad.
