IPL 2021: Prithvi Shaw hits Shivam Mavi for six four in one

Prithvi Shaw hit six fours in the first round of the Delhi Capitals (DC) chase against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during the 2021 IPL underway in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

Shaw sent all six legal deliveries of opening pitcher Shivam Mavi to the border and then scored 82 deliveries out of just 41 deliveries to help DC beat KKR by seven wickets.

With this milestone, he only became the second IPL player after teammate Ajinkya Rahane to achieve the feat.

The assault began when Shaw struck an overhead straight off Shivam Mavi. He followed by hitting a nose-up delivery over the bowler’s head for four in the next ball.

The right-hander then whipped the next ball over the middle of the wicket before throwing an offside on the third ball. He then led one through the covers for a low, full throw on the outside. For the fifth ball, Shaw hit through the back point before ending the over with a thriving drive through extra cover.

“I wasn’t thinking of anything to be honest. I was just waiting for the loose bullets. I knew where Shivam would play, we played (as an age group) together for four or five years, ”Shaw said in the post-game presentation.

“The first four-five balls he threw were half volleys, so I was prepared for the short ball but he didn’t play.”

Asked about the ups and downs he has faced recently. Shaw said, “My dad has been very supportive. After returning from Australia, I was not happy with myself. My dad just asked me to play my natural game.

“All of those words set a goal for me and I worked hard. In cricket the charts are going to go up and down, a lot of failures are going to happen. “

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant said Shaw is a talented player and can do wonders if he’s confident.

“I was just telling him to play the normal game. In this kind of match, we can afford to think about the run rate. The only thing we talk about with young people is just enjoying cricket, doing your best, ”Pant said.
