It was a low score one-sided match in Chennai just before the third weekend. However, it helped with a much needed move in the points table which had a clear distance between the top 4 and the bottom 4. The Punjab Kings absolutely knocked out defending Indian champions Mumbai in Game 17 of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rohit Sharma hitting the 200th time in IPL, was the only constant in MI’s stick as they ran to 131 in the opening innings.

Mohammed Shami and Ravi Bishnoi were the bowling leaders, with identical numbers of 4-0-21-2. The 132 goal never seemed intimidating for the Punjab Kings, as KL Rahul played his natural game scoring 62 of 50 to get them home. Mayank Agarwal and Chris Gayle both played practical punches to back him up at the other end as the Punjab Kings won by a huge margin to keep their campaign alive.

It was a comeback for the Kings XI Punjab, having lost three straight and lost their previous game by the same nine wicket margin.
