IPL 2021: Hesson satisfied with the retention of Siraj, Sundar and Saini

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be happy to retain Washington Sundar, Mohammed Siraj and Navdeep Saini – members of the Indian squad which recently won a famous series of tests in Australia.

“We picked a number of young players – Washington, Siraj, Shahbaz Nadeem, Devdutt Padikkal and Saini. It’s nice to see how they have progressed. And the way they (Siraj, Sundar and Saini) performed with the Test team in Australia was phenomenal. We are proud that they are associated with RCB, ”said cricket operations manager Mike Hesson in an RCB video on Twitter.

IPL 2021: Complete list of players published, kept before auction

Releasing Australian opener Aaron Finch and South African all-rounder Chris Morris, Hesson said: “As a signing of ₹ 10 crore, Morris was a big part of our resource. But he had a few injuries and missed a lot of cricket. Morris has not played top level cricket since then so there is a risk. As for Finch, it didn’t quite work out for him the way we would have liked. We have (Australian wicket keeper-batsman) Josh Philippe as top notch cover (for Finch).

Hesson added that skipper Virat Kohli was closely involved in the team’s retention strategy.

In the last IPL edition, RCB qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2016, before losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator.
