IPL 2021 auction to be held on February 18 in Chennai

The 2021 Indian Premier League auction will take place in Chennai on February 18.

With India playing back-to-back tests in Chennai between Feb.5-17, the Cricket Control Board of India (BCCI) decided to hold the auction at a lavish hotel in the city, maintaining all measures COVID-19 security policy in mind.

Most of the teams having retained their hard core, this auction will be an opportunity for franchisees to resolve problems.

Prior to the auction, Kings XI Punjab has the maximum available purse worth Rs 53.2 crore.

“Given that we will have a bigger auction in 2022, with more teams coming up, this is an opportunity to just fill in the gaps,” said one of the franchise owners.
