NEW DELHI: England’s Mark Wood has withdrawn his name from the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) player auction scheduled for Thursday in Chennai. He had placed himself in the highest price bracket of Rs 2 crore, along with seven other foreign players.
According to ESPNcricinfo, franchises were told during a briefing in Chennai on Wednesday that the Stimulator had decided to withdraw from the auction in order to spend time with his family at home.
Additionally, Wood and wicket keeper Jonny Bairstow joined the England squad in Chennai on Wednesday ahead of the third test against India. The third Test will start on February 24 and it will be a day-night affair in Ahmedabad.

“The duo joined the England men’s cricket team after a stay at home,” England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had said. The couple had also attended “their first training session after coming out of quarantine.”
India tied the four-game 1-1 test series after an unmistakable 317-point victory in the second test at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

India remain in contention to advance to the final of the ICC World Test Championship after scoring an impressive victory over England in the second test to tie in the four-game series.
