Indian captain Virat Kohli said on Thursday that the ongoing protest by farmers against the new farm laws was discussed at his team meeting where everyone had “expressed their views”.
Kohli, speaking to media online ahead of the first test against England here, did not disclose details of the “brief” conversation on the matter.
“We had a brief chat at the team meeting. Everyone has expressed their opinion, that’s about it, ”said Kohli, when asked about the unrest which has been going on for more than two months.
Kohli was among a host of Indian cricket stars on Wednesday, including iconic Sachin Tendulkar who called for unity in the country after some international celebrities like American pop star Rihanna called attention to the fate of restless farmers on social media.
“Let us all remain united in this hour of disagreement. Farmers are an integral part of our country and I am sure that an amicable solution will be found between all parties to bring peace and move forward together, ”he tweeted.
India and England will see the horns in a four-game test series starting on Friday.
