India’s streak of white balloons in Sri Lanka was pushed back on Friday after two Sri Lankan support staff tested positive for COVID-19, forcing their team into a longer period of isolation.
Sri Lanka batting coach Grant Flower and data analyst GT Niroshan tested positive for COVID-19 upon their return from the UK, forcing Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to extend the period of Strict quarantine of the stipulated three days.
“The series will now start from July 17th instead of July 13th and will run until the 27th. It could even be delayed further,” said an SLC official. indianexpress.com.
The three ODIs will now take place on July 17, 19 and 21, with the T20I on July 24, 25 and 27.
Previously, the series was scheduled to begin on July 13.
Shikhar Dhawan will make his international debut as captain when India faces Sri Lanka in all three matches of the ODI and T20I series.
