India vs England: India vs England: The boys helped me stay strong, says Jack Leach on his return after hammering Rishabh pants | Cricket News

CHENNAI: England left-arm spinner Jack Leach said on Tuesday his teammates helped him stay strong and come back after the pounding he received from Rishabh Pant in the Test’s first victory against India.
Riding over Leach (4/76) and bowling James Anderson (3/17), England crushed India by 227 points here on Tuesday to take a 1-0 lead in the four-game series.
Leach, who was taken to the task by belligerent pants on day three, shone when the hosts returned to bat.

“I thought he (Pant) was playing in the IPL. It’s a challenge that comes for a spinner. It was a tough night that one, but the boys helped me stay strong,” said Leach after the game.
Coming from extremely cold England, it was not easy for visitors to acclimatize to the humid conditions of this part of the world.
“I went without cricket for a long time (before the Sri Lanka series). It was all about bowling in the heat.
“(This is) my first time in India. They have a great batting lineup and I knew the pressure that goes with that. Happy to take wickets and get the boys over the line,” the spinner from 29 added at the end of the fifth and final day of play.

Set a world record of 420 points to reach a goal in the rubber on day five, India was eliminated by 192 points in the second session after captain Virat Kohli’s 72 balls on 104 balls on a tough surface in the MA Chidambaram.
India started the day at 39/1, requiring 381 races on the final day.
