Parth Jindal, IPL 2021 franchise co-owner, Delhi Capitals (DC), said if there was ever a statue that would be placed outside the Delhi stadium of one of the DC players, he had chosen Amit Mishra as the first choice.
Amit Mishra had started his Indian Premier League (IPL) career with the Delhi franchise in IPL 2008 when they were known as Delhi Daredevils and were managed by Virender Sehwag. He continued his career with various other franchises in due course, but returned to the Delhi team at IPL 2020.
He had a very good season cut short in the 2020 IPL in the UAE by breaking his finger in his bowling hand and having to go home. Although he has only played 2 games so far in the IPL 2021 edition for Delhi, he has left a lasting impression on the team co-owner, fans and cricket experts.
There is no doubt in my mind that the first statue that will ascend for us the capitals of Delhi will be that of Amit Mishra: Parth Jindal
Skater Amit Mishra wove a web on the Mumbai Indians (MI) before Shikhar Dhawan and Steve Smith hit 45 and 33 respectively as the Delhi Capitals recorded a victory at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Amit Mishra ended up with numbers of 4/24 in 4 overs. He set a record with this four wicket draw as it was his seventh draw from four or more wickets in T20 cricket, the highest number of Indian bowlers in the format. He has 5 four wicket hauls and two five wicket hauls under his belt in his 234 T20 career, where he has 260 wickets with the best bowling of 5/17.
Mishra is also the only bowler to have three triplets in the Indian Premier League (IPL), including one for the Delhi franchise as well. He is the second-highest wicket holder in IPL history as he has 164 wickets to his name in 152 games, behind Lasith Malinga’s 170 wickets in 122 games for MI.
Speaking after this performance by Amit Mishra, DC co-owner Parth Jindal praised the leg spinner very much and said that while IPL franchises were allowed to install statues outside their stadiums, the first statue that the capitals of Delhi will erect will be Amit Mishra.
“If IPL teams are ever allowed to set up statues in front of their stadiums by the @BCCI and state cricket bodies – there is no doubt in my mind that the first statue that goes up for us @DelhiCapitals will be that of @MishiAmit – what a wonderful player he has been for Delhi!, ” Jindal tweeted.
Whether IPL teams are allowed to install statues outside their stadiums @BCCI and the condition of the cricket corps – there is no doubt in my mind that the first statue that will go up for us @DelhiCapitals will be that of @MishiAmit – what a wonderful player he was for Delhi!
