ICC officially postpones 2020 T20 World Cup

The International Cricket Council officially postponed the 2020 World Cup on Monday. ICC said it would be difficult to host the world-class event like the T20 World Cup under the current scenario when the coronavirus spreads across the world. Australia was supposed to host the event, but now it is canceled for this year and now two successive 2020 World Cups will take place in the next two years.

“The decision to postpone the ICC T20 Men’s World Cup was taken after careful consideration of all the options available to us and gives us the best possible opportunity to deliver two safe and successful T20 World Cups for fans of the the whole world ”, Manu Sawhney, The Managing Director of ICC said in a declaration.

ICC has also postponed the ODI 2023 World Cup for 6 months and will now be played in October-November. The next 2 t20 World Cups will also take place in October-November to host the bilateral cricket series and the qualification for the 2023 World Cup.

The 2021 T20 World Cup final is scheduled for November 14, while the 2022 2022 World Cup final takes place on November 13.
