The Rajasthan Royals have approached other IPL teams to loan players after their four foreign players left for a variety of reasons, including injuries, bubble fatigue and fear of Covid-19.
Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer are out of the IPL with injuries while Liam Livingstone returned home due to bubble fatigue. Andrew Tye left for Australia on Sunday, citing fear over the rising number of Covid-19 cases in India, making the Royals the team most affected by player withdrawals.
“The team are looking to loan players and have written to other franchisees but nothing is decided at this stage,” a source close to the team’s management told PTI.
The IPL loan window started on Monday and will end with the conclusion of the Championship phase
Tye, who had not played a game this season, returned home on Sunday fearing he would be kicked out of his own country with India reporting record Covid-19 infections in recent days.
IPL rules state that a player who has played fewer than two matches in the season can be loaned out and cannot play against his home franchise.
The Royals have two wins in five games and will play their next game in Delhi on Thursday.
