Franchises announced the player retention list last month

Franchises announced the list of players retained and released last month on January 20. However, the negotiating window closed at 5 p.m. on Thursday and this led BCCI to release the final roster of players after franchises provided them with the roster of required cricketers.

Among the great players, the likes of Joe root, Mitchell Starc and James Pattinson have already decided to skip the possible auction for various reasons. A total of 61 slots need to be filled, 22 of which are for overseas players and it will be interesting to see who manages to win the elusive IPL contract.

Among the buzzwords is Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar, who made his senior Mumbai squad debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy this season. He has been shortlisted and it remains to be seen who is interested in him. Arjun kept his base price at Rs 20 lakh while SMAT stars Mohammed Azharudeen and Shahrukh Khan were also shortlisted by franchises.
