Arjun returned with numbers 3-0-34-1 on his Mumbai debut.
Arjun Tendulkar, the son of legendary Sachin Tendulkar, made his T20 debut for the senior Mumbai team in the current edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy. He made his U19 debut for India in 2018 and had to wait two years to enter the Indian national circuit. The 21-year-old all-rounder has continued to play club cricket on English soil.
Regarding his debut, he played against Haryana in the third match of the SMAT20 Mumbai Championship at the Bandra Kurla complex in Mumbai. He played in the power play and got the wicket from Chaitanya Bishnoi, who scored just four points. However, he turned out to be the most expensive of the bowlers in Mumbai as he disclosed 34 points in the three overs he played.
Mumbai then lost the game by eight wickets after Haryana chased 144 with 14 bullets in reserve. Mumbai has had a terrible campaign in the league. In three matches they have lost everything and are placed at the bottom with a net run rate of -2.482. Become ineligible for a place in the quarterfinals, Mumbai finds itself with matches against Pondicherry and Andhra.
Arjun Tendulkar to play in the IPL?
In the meantime, Arjun Tendulkar has become eligible for inclusion in the auction pool for the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. Making his Mumbai debut means he has every chance of going under the hammer for the cash-rich league. But keeping the quality of India’s all-rounders in mind, Arjun will have to work out of his skin to make his IPL debut.
The 2020 edition of the IPL ended on November 10 and there is not much time left for the next edition. As a result, the Cricket Control Council in India has already rolled up its socks to finalize the dates and venues for the tournament.
The last IPL took place in UAE and whether or not the IPL reverts to India we’ll see. For now, it remains to be seen if Arjun has a chance in Mumbai’s last two matches in the league.
