On Sunday January 24, the second ODI will be played between Afghanistan and Ireland at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium (Abu Dhabi). Currently, Afghanistan lead the three-game ODI series (part of the 2020–23 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League) by 1-0 with two games remaining.
They played in the opener of this ODI series last Thursday where Afghanistan won by 16 points. While Afghanistan scored 287/9 (50 overshoots), Ireland responded with 271/9 (50 overshoots).

Afghanistan kicked off their international cricket journey with a narrow 16-innings victory, which made a positive start to their Super League run of the 2020–23 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
Wicket keeper batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz (127 of 127 balls) made history in the final game by scoring an ODI Beginner Century, which was also the highest individual score for an ODI Beginner Gate Batsman. He had a 120-race opening partnership with Javed Ahmedi (38). Although other Afghan drummers have struggled for their international comeback Rashid khan (55 out of 30 balls) scored a smashing half-century to ensure the difficult total of first innings.
Although the Afghan bowlers started well, they faced tough challenges in the second half of the second inning. While Naveen-ul-Haq (3/68) got three wickets, Mujeeb Ur Rahman (2/40) and Rashid Khan (2/56) each have two.

In both rounds of the previous ODI, Ireland struggled in the first half but came back amazingly in the second half. However, in the end, they were only inches away to snatch the victory.
Andy McBrine single-handedly brought the Irish team back in the opening heats by taking the first five wickets. He finished this round with the bowling numbers of 10-0-29-5.
In pursuit of the difficult target, the Irish team lost wickets at regular intervals. Finally, with the strong help of lower-ranking drummers, the wicket drummer Lorcan Tucker scored the fight 83 runs 96 balls.
While the Ireland team tend to improve their performance over time, cricket fans can expect a good comeback from them on Sunday.
