Qalandars extended their winning streak in Abu Dhabi’s T10 League with a four-wicket victory over the Maratha Arabians at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
It was another strong overall performance from Qalandars, who limited the Arabs to 101 for 5 of 10 overs despite Mohammad Hafeez’s 44 runs. His left arm stimulator Sohail Tanvir chose three wickets for 22 races.
In pursuit of the target, Qalandars managed to maintain its flow of execution despite losing wickets at regular intervals. Thanks to quick shots from Sharjeel Khan (28), Sohail Akhtar (20) and Ben Dunk (26 not out), the side sailed smoothly to their target with 11 balls in reserve.

Put in the bat, the opener of the Arabs, Mohammad Hafeez, started by choosing two limits of the first above Sultan Ahmed. In the third round, Sultan Ahmed had his UAE teammate Abdul Shakoor caught one square foot deep by Asif Ali for 11.
Hafeez managed to hit Shahid Afridi for a limit and a six to choose 14 points on his own as the Arabs hit the 50 point mark halfway through.
Laurie Evans’ new bat attempted a sweep on Daniyal Ahmed and was knocked down for 9 in the sixth. This brought in Shoaib Malik, who threw the first ball he faced for a limit. To tighten the flow of fun, Qalandars introduced Chris Jordan who only gave five points.

The penultimate plus saw the sacking of Hafeez and with Malik’s 16-23, the Arabs just managed to cross the 100 point mark.
Qalandars had a bad start, Tom Banton was eliminated on the fifth ball of the first, thanks to a confusion with his partner Sharjeel Khan.
In the second, Sharjeel hit Yamin Ahmadzai for two consecutive borders. Fit skipper Sohail Akhtar hit Mukhtar Ali for a long six and also pushed him to a limit. Sharjeel beat Sompal Kami for two consecutive sixes in the fourth. Akhtar also hit him for a six in the fifth delivery, but was trapped in the front leg with the last ball over 20. Shoaib Malik played a tight fifth and also caught Sharjeel long over for 28.

Qalandars needed 37 points from the last five overs. Ben Dunk hit Mosaddek Hossain for two limits while Asif Ali also picked one limit to get 15 points. Ishan Ali, who played the seventh, caught Asif from afar for 10 and gave just seven points.
With 15 points needed on the last three passes, the Arabs presented Ahmadzai for the eighth. He forced Afridi to beat goalkeeper Shakoor for 2. The next man, Daniyal, hit the first ball he faced for a straight six and went out to the next up the short, thin leg. Then Dunk hit the winning limit on the first ball of the ninth to win the game.
