Chopra also believes England’s Dawid Malan, Eoin Morgan’s national teammate, has a good chance of making the squad.

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra wants Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to choose either Cameron Green or Moises Henriques for the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Chopra believes that one of the two Australian cricketers could be chosen as Andre Russell’s replacement. In the last edition, Dre-Russ missed a lot of matches due to injury.

The Jamaican was also not at his best in the tournament played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The next edition’s auction is scheduled to take place in Chennai on February 18, and Chopra wants the Knights to have the necessary resources in their arsenal.

Aakash Chopra puts for his opinions

“They need a backup for Russell, a player who can do two things because when Russell gets injured, the scenario changes. They could go for Cameron Green or Moises Henriques to replace Russell if they are looking for versatile players at fast bowling, ”Chopra said on her YouTube channel.

Chopra also believes England’s Dawid Malan, Eoin Morgan’s national teammate, has a good chance of making the squad. Along with Malan, Chopra feels that Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi are the right choices as openers.

“KKR has Tim Seifert as an option to open with Shubman Gill. But they could look to Dawid malan. With Morgan as captain, I think they’ll be more interested in Malan. Otherwise they have Tripathi and Nitish Rana has also opened a few times, ”he said.

According to Chopra, KKR could also choose Moeen Ali and Shakib Al Hasan as versatile spin-bowling players. The veteran believes Shakib playing for KKR earlier could be an added advantage.

“They could also go for Moeen Ali or Shakib, who are versatile. Shakib also starred earlier in this franchise. So they might want to take one of those four and a top-notch drummer overseas if they want, ”added Chopra.

Shakib went to the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2018 and played two seasons for them. He missed the 2020 edition after which the Orange Army released him from his services.
