Aakash Chopra backs Shreyas Iyer as DC skipper if IPL is postponed

Vivo IPL 2021: Aakash Chopra supports Shreyas Iyer as Delhi capitals skipper if the 2021 IPL is postponed.

Vivo IPL 2021: Cricketer became commentator Aakash Chopra in his youtube video, Shreyas Iyer backed Shreyas Iyer for leading the Delhi (DC) capitals in Vivo IPL 2021 if BCCI plans to postpone it. However, the renowned commentator said this case is only possible if Iyer gets in shape by then.

The reins of the Delhi (DC) Capitals were handed to left-hander Rishabh Pant after Iyer was excluded from the entire 2021 IPL due to a shoulder injury he sustained during the series India-England. Pant has played the role so far with six wins in eight games.

Chopra has indicated that as the tournament has already been put on hold halfway and there was speculation it could be postponed elsewhere, so it’s by the rules if Iyer comes in and leads his side again. In addition, Delhi Capitals (DC) have not announced any replacement for the cricketer.

The 43-year-old has said Shreyas Iyer should be reinstated as skipper for the remainder of the series as soon as he is fit to play. He should come to number 3 for his side.

The Mumbai-based drummer took his Delhi (DC) Capitals team to their first-ever IPL final last year in the United Arab Emirates.

“One hundred percent male. There is no doubt. Fit and available, Shreyas Iyer enters as Captain, The Bats at No.3. The rules certainly aren’t like that once you’re kicked out you can’t come back. When you’re fit and available, come back and play, ”Aakash Chopra said in his YouTube video.

Delhi Capitals (DC) will have the option to bench a foreign batsman if Iyer makes it to No.3.

“Then you can play Nortje alongside Rabada, Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis. Suddenly, the Delhi team, already very strong and currently No. 1, will become even stronger, ”said the former opener.

Shreyas Iyer was earlier seen sweating in his house on a light and strengthening training program. He had an operation last month and is recovering very quickly. Iyer shared a video on his social media handles of him doing his strengthening training that won the hearts of fans.
