Franchises would be prepared as to which players to target.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to hold the highly anticipated mini-auction for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Chennai on February 18, 2021. In preparation for the upcoming auction, the eight franchises have strategized and plan to incorporate players of their choice who can help fill the gaps in their teams and help them win the coveted T20 Trophy in 2021.
The player registration window for IPL 2021 closed on February 14, 2021 and no less than 1,097 players, including 814 from India and 283 players from overseas, registered for the marquee event. Franchises would be prepared as to which players to target.
In this article, let’s take a look at a team batsman who can be selected in the IPL 2021 auction:
1. CSK – Marnus Labuschagne
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a scorching run in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and one of the main reasons behind the same was their slow running, especially in the mid-overs. To fill this gap, the three-time champions would be looking for a capable mid-level batsman and Marnus Labuschagne may be a perfect fit for the same.
With Ruturaj Gaikwad opening the sleeves for Chennai alongside Faf du Plessis and Suresh Raina after a wicket fall, Labuschagne can help by keeping his wicket intact and checking the scoreboard. In addition, he can participate in a few overs for the team as a right-leg bowler.
Plus, since Shane Watson announced his retirement from the Indian league, Marnus can act as a perfect replacement for the veteran.
