3 international stars who deserve a best-selling price in the IPL 2021 auction:
Steve Smith was released by Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL auction and the Australian cricketer put his name under the IPL hat for the base price INR 2 Crores. Many cricketers expected the cricketer to pocket a hefty sum, while some believed he could put franchises in bidding wars.
However, Smith was brought in by Delhi Capitals (DC) for INR 2.25 Crores. The Royal Challengers Bangalore launched a bid for Smith as they pulled out after the Delhi Capitals’ second and final bid.
Smith amassed over 4,000 runs out of 209 T20 games with an average of 30 and hitting 126 clicks. Although the strike rate is lower than everyone wanted but playing the role of an anchor, it is more than enough.
English drummer Dawid Malan was brought in by Punjab Kings (formerly known as Kings XI Punjab) for his base price of INR 1.5 crore. It was surprising to fans to see the number one ranked ICC T20I drummers selling for just one offer.
Malan for Punjab Kings is a big deal in the 2021 IPL auction. He really deserved a lot better than he got in the auction. Malan reached the crown of the ICC T20I standings in just 19 games for England.
He has scored 6117 points in 223 T20 games so far with a strike rate of 128.61. In T20I games, he has over 800 runs in 19 games with a hit rate close to 150.
Shakib Al Hasan:
The versatile Bangladesh are back in the Indian T20 League after serving a one-year ban. He will represent two times champion, Kolkata Knight Riders in the next edition of the IPL. He was brought in by the franchise for 3.25 Crores INR.
He’s racked up 5,080 runs in 317 T20 games so far and scalped 360 wickets with a saving of less than seven. He’s a consistent performer for any side and can provide depth in both batting and bowling. .
While 3.25 Crores INR is a good amount, the senior and experienced all-rounder deserved more than that. Shakib is good with the bat and can play in crucial moments and use his international experience.
