Ahmedabad is the first city that is almost certain to get the IPL franchise in the coming season. According to sources close to the BCCI, due to the renovation of the Narendra Modi stadium, the chances of Ahmedabad have increased considerably.
The newly constructed Narendra Modi Stadium has the capacity to accommodate 132,000 spectators at a time. In addition, the stadium recently hosted several India-England Series matches as well as a few IPL matches.
Lucknow is another place that comes to mind. The city has its own international stadium known as Ekana Cricket Stadium, also known as Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. The field has a capacity of 50,000 spectators.
The Ekana Cricket Stadium was previously approved by the BCCI as the third ground for the Afghanistan cricket team. The field recently hosted successful international women’s meetings between India and South Africa.
Chances are the city of Lucknow will get an IPL franchise for the first time in IPL 2022.
Pune is the most prominent city in the country to obtain the IPL franchise during next season’s IPL. Previously, two franchises, Pune Warriors India and Rising Pune Supergiants, represented the city of Pune in the cash-rich league. The Pune Warriors India were included in the IPL from 2011 to 2013 when the IPL was the 10 team competition while Rising Pune Supergiants came after the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were banned for two years.
If Pune gets an IPL franchise, then the Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium will be their home ground. The field recently hosted the ODI India-England Games.
